- Assistant Director of Experiential Education
Description
The Assistant Director’s primary responsibilities include providing assistance in the coordination of the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE), Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE), and quality improvement activities of the overall experiential program. The individual will implement and assess quality assurance policies and processes for IPPEs and APPEs with attention to curricular outcomes and relevant accreditation standards. The candidate will also be responsible for, assessing assignments, providing feedback and reporting student grades. In addition, this individual will coordinate quality improvement activities to ensure optimal management of the experiential program.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to a) contributing to the growth and expansion of the Howard University College of Pharmacy and the Experiential Department and b) providing mentorship and guidance to the College’s Doctor of Pharmacy program students. The individual will also serve on Departmental and School Committees.
Principal Accountabilities
Collaborates with the Director of Experiential Education to conduct quality assurance activities to ensure sites, preceptors and curriculum is consistent with program standards and School of Pharmacy requirements.
Collaborates with the Director of Experiential Education to implement and design the needed programs to ensure the students are progressing through the curriculum as required.
In collaboration with the Director of Experiential Education, develop the any needed programs for the department and provide the necessary general oversight.
Serves as initial point of contact for the IPPE and APPE students and proceptors (when necessary)
Serve as an active member of College of Pharmacy and necessary committees and task forces
Other duties as appropriate with respect to professional interest and overall scope of responsibilities
Implements ACPE standards in all Experiential operations
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Education or Healthcare administration
Additional preferences for experience in a college or university setting (preferably a professional program)
Additional preferences for experience in healthcare setting
Additional preference in ability to knowledge of current accreditation standards for pharmacy education and/or experiential education
Additional preference of 3 plus years experience in either healthcare or higher education
