- Chief of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology
Description
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is seeking an accomplished anesthesiologist to serve as Chief of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience. The Chief will provide leadership and oversight of all clinical and administrative activities within the neurosurgical anesthesia service line, ensuring exceptional patient care, operational efficiency, and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide anesthetic care for complex neurosurgical procedures, including intracranial, spine, functional, and vascular cases.
- Lead and support advanced practices such as awake and sitting craniotomies and aneurysm clipping.
- Direct and optimize service line operations, including OR utilization, patient flow, and first-case starts.
- Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, enhance ERAS pathways, and advance research initiatives.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of residents, fellows, and medical students, while contributing to scholarship in neuroanesthesiology.
- Serve on departmental and institutional leadership committees, contributing to strategy, innovation, and quality improvement.
Qualifications
- MD/DO (or equivalent) with board certification in Anesthesiology.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Fellowship training or significant experience in neurosurgical anesthesiology.
- Proven leadership skills in clinical, academic, and/or administrative settings.
- Strong commitment to patient safety, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
