Description
- Assist the Director of Athletics in the overall management, supervision, and leadership of the department.
- Serve as Chief Operating Officer for Athletics, advising the Director on strategic initiatives, policy and procedure development, and the planning, allocation, and oversight of departmental resources.
- Ensure stability and sustainability departmental budget in compliance with University policy and procedures.
- Serve as chief representative for Athletics concerning external and internal audits.
- Develop and administer policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NCAA and other athletic conference rules, regulations and risk management procedures and protocols to minimize the risk of liability.
- Collaborate with University offices and community agencies to effectively manage assigned functions.
- Provide direct supervision to selected sports teams. Ensure fiscal soundness and compliance with intercollegiate rules, regulations and procedures.
- Oversee the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in absence of the Director of Athletics.
- Represent the University at appropriate Missouri Valley Conference, NCAA, and university meetings.
- Manage internal and external operations based on business needs and qualifications.
- Oversee all related Special Projects.
- Implement pillars of the department's mission and strategic plan.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to maximize revenue potential, strengthen the UIC Athletics brand, and expand opportunities for engagement with key audiences.
- Assist with the department’s Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) efforts.
- Serve as a member of the Athletic Department’s executive team.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- A minimum of eight years of experience as a senior level administrator in intercollegiate athletics.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial management principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Sports Administration or related field.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
