Description
Overview
The Director, Continuing Education provides leadership and oversight for the Annenberg
Center’s continuing education activities for health care professionals. Responsibilities include
establishing and maintaining standards and processes necessary for accreditation of continuing
education for physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other allied health professions. This includes
overseeing accreditation and compliance issues for Regularly Scheduled Series and special
conferences at Eisenhower Health; Annenberg Center accredited activities, both live and online,
and other activities with joint providers.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead and manage the coordination of compliance with Joint Accreditation, California Board
of Registered Nursing, and Dental Board of California with the goal of maintaining or
achieving accreditation with commendation when applicable. This includes overseeing all
self-studies, site surveys, and annual or interim reporting.
Coordinate with Grant Development Directors, Scientific Directors and Project Managers
throughout grant and project development to ensure adherence to accreditation criteria
including the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing
Education.
Provide compliance review of all supported activities and educational materials prior to
release to ensure independence, fair balance, scientific rigor, appropriateness for target
audience, and compliance with accreditation criteria and standards.
Participate in planning and committee meetings including the Eisenhower Health’s
Education Committee, Dental Health, applicable RSS’s and other special conferences as
needed.
Remain current on accreditation criteria and standards.
Provide training, insight and guidance to the staff, appropriate Eisenhower Health medical
professionals and support staff, and joint providers on policies, procedures and best
practices to ensure compliance with standards.
Maintain friendly and productive relationships through clear articulation and an effective
communication style with internal and external stakeholders.
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement.
Support the leadership team in policy development or pursuit of strategic opportunities.

Requirements
Education
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in science, education or related field
Preferred: Advanced degree in related field
Licensure/Certification
Certified Healthcare CPD Professional (CHCP) Credential a plus.
Experience
Required: Minimum ten years’ experience in CME including managing an accreditation
application and survey; minimum five years supervisory/management experience
Preferred: Current or past Joint Accreditation Surveyor or ACCME Surveyor
Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required
- Deep knowledge of guidelines and accreditation procedures for Joint Accreditation
- Familiar with or working knowledge of specialized CE/CME applications, such EACCME
accreditation, ABIM MOC CME, and activity level accreditation processes (e.g., AAFP) - Financial acumen
- Ability to communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and follow-up
- Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
- Strong problem solving, analytical, presentation, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated expertise working with internal and external stakeholders
- Interest in the professional development of colleagues
- Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
