Job Summary
The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University is seeking an innovative and strategic Director of Content and Creative to lead the development and execution of compelling, brand-aligned content, creative, and visual content that advances Kelley's brand reputation and awareness and fulfills enrollment marketing strategy goals and helps deliver on desired outcomes. The ideal candidate is both a visionary creative leader and a pragmatic strategist who is passionate about impactful content and creative that drives results.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Leads a team of professionals focused on projects across paid, owned, and earned media for the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses.
- Collaborates closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Brand Strategy to shape the school's voice and visual identity, driving consistency, creativity, and impact.
- Reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Holds a seat on the marketing leadership team, collaborating across marketing and communications functions including Enrollment Marketing Strategy, Content and Creative, Digital and Web.
- Oversees a team of professionals, including content specialists, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and producers.
- Oversees the creation of content to support enrollment marketing and brand efforts for multiple formats, including long-form articles, video, web, social media, advertising, and publications.
- Ensures content is audience-centric, communicates value and differentiation, actionable, and results oriented.
- Provides direction and oversight for the development of assets, including design, photography, video, and multimedia storytelling.
- Upholds and evolves Kelley's visual and verbal identity in collaboration with brand leadership.
- Ensures all content and creative work meets standards of excellence and aligns with brand voice and tone.
- Fosters innovation, including new content formats, digital engagement tactics, and creative campaign concepts, and the implementation of advanced marketing technology to streamline efforts for team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Mentors staff and builds strong, collaborative partnerships within the marketing and communications team and across the school.
- Manages relationships with external agencies, freelancers, and production vendors as needed.
- Directs operations for the marketing and communications function by providing oversight and direction within a department, large multi-faceted department, or multiple departments.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, assigns work, sets goals and objectives, determines staffing needs, and directs the work of a team of Marketing Generalists and/or Marketing Assistants.
- Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders; determines marketing needs, projects, and programs to align with objectives and goals and supervises processes such as the development of marketing timelines related to such initiatives.
- Independently develops, evaluates, and executes basic and highly complex strategic marketing plans for a department, functional area within a department, or large, multi-faceted department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
- Responds to escalated and complex inquiries and requests from direct reports and stakeholders; acts as a resource and explains policies, procedures, and programs.
- Assists in budget planning and administration for marketing initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, and project and program costs.
- Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty; monitors industry trends and best practices, makes process and operational and strategic recommendations to manager, and assists in implementing procedural changes.
- May provide guidance to lower-level Marketing Leaders.

- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
