POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Finance is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s financial strategy. This role provides visionary guidance across all financial functions, ensuring fiscal integrity, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and dynamic leader who thrives in complex environments and drives results through collaboration, innovation, and data-informed decision-making.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Vision:
Architect and lead the organization’s financial roadmap, aligning fiscal planning with long-term business goals. Develop and refine multi-year financial strategies, integrating scenario modeling and forecasting to support sustainable growth.
Executive Collaboration & Influence:
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and the board of directors. Deliver clear, actionable insights that inform high-level decisions on investments, cost management, and revenue optimization.
Enterprise-Wide Planning:
Direct the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts across all divisions. Lead capital planning and resource allocation to ensure financial agility and responsiveness to market dynamics.
Performance Optimization:
Partner with operational leaders to identify key performance drivers and implement strategies that enhance financial outcomes. Evaluate business initiatives and pricing strategies to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
Governance & Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports to executive stakeholders and governance bodies. Ensure transparency, accuracy, and strategic relevance in all reporting activities.
Operational Oversight Responsibilities:
Financial Operations Management:
Supervise day-to-day financial activities including cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, vendor payments, and credit facility management. Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions and ensure liquidity.
Accounting & Compliance:
Lead monthly and annual close processes, including reconciliations, general ledger reviews, and audit coordination. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Systems & Process Innovation:
Champion the implementation of financial systems and process improvements. Evaluate and enhance reporting tools, controls, and integration with operational platforms.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with HR and operations on payroll, benefits, and financial allocations. Support enterprise-wide initiatives with financial analysis and strategic input.
Team Development & Mentorship:
Build and lead a high-performing finance team. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related course of study.
-Master’s degree or related certification preferred.
-Strong command of GAAP principles.
-Proven leadership experience in financial strategy, planning, and operations.
-Previous experience leading an Accounting and Finance department.
-Auditing lead experience.
-Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
-Strong command of financial systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Epicor, or Sage Intaact. Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel and related tools.
-Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
-Deep understanding of business operations, market dynamics, and financial principles.
-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
