Description
OverviewDirector of Golf - Babcock National Golf Club (Babcock Ranch, FL)
Reports to: David Perritt, President, Signature One
Facility type: Bundled-golf community with HOA board governance
Course: 18-hole Gordon Lewis design set on ~460 acres within Babcock Ranch, America's first solar-powered town.
About Babcock National & Babcock Ranch
Babcock National Golf Club anchors a new, master-planned community in Babcock Ranch-recognized as the nation's first solar-powered town-combining championship golf with resort-style amenities (pool/tiki bar, tennis, pickleball, fitness, spa, and dining). The course opened in 2020 and was designed by Gordon Lewis.
Bundled golf model: In a bundled community, golf membership conveys with the home and is supported through HOA assessments rather than separate initiation fees-creating high utilization, seasonal demand patterns, and a broad member-base of homeowners and transferees.
HOA-run governance: Facility policies and member usage are ultimately overseen by a homeowner-elected Board/committees focused on property value protection and community standards; Babcock National's operating guide reflects Board authority over club policies and rules.
The Opportunity
Babcock National seeks an experienced Director of Golf to lead all facets of golf operations-golf shop/merchandising, instruction/player development, outside services, practice facilities, car fleet, tournaments/associations, pace of play, and tee-sheet/yield-while partnering closely with the HOA Board, committees, the golf course superintendent, and the management company (Signature One).
Signature One | Our Management Partner
Signature One is a hospitality-forward association & club management company. Their mission emphasizes local expertise, personalized service, transparency, cutting-edge technology, and resident-hospitality-a perfect fit for a member-driven, HOA-governed golf community. The Director of Golf will exemplify these values daily.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Governance Alignment
- Serve as the primary staff leader for golf operations; collaborate with the HOA Board and golf committees on policy, budget, calendars, and long-range planning.
- Translate Board-approved policies into clear operating procedures (eligibility/guest access, walking/cart, pace of play, dress code, range usage), and ensure fair, consistent enforcement.
- Prepare golf-operation reports and recommendations for Board/committee meetings (utilization, yield, satisfaction, staffing, merchandising KPIs), consistent with PGA job design.
Bundled-Golf & Tee-Sheet Leadership
- Optimize access and pace for a bundled-membership base and transferees; manage high-season demand and equity of access using lottery/booking tools and data.
- Balance member, league/associations (MGA, WGA, couples), events, and limited outside play to protect the member experience and NOI.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee golf shop, outside services, practice facility, cart fleet, and tournament operations at or above PGA standards.
- Lead player development & instruction (private/group, juniors) and leverage technology for engagement and retention.
- Own merchandising strategy-assortment, visuals, inventory turns, vendor relations-and financial performance.
Member Experience & Culture
- Deliver a consistently warm, hospitality-driven experience aligned with Signature One's values; be visible on the tee, course, and in the shop.
- Model courteous, rules-respecting play and reinforce pace-of-play standards.
Financial & Administrative
- Build and manage golf-ops budgets, forecasts, and business plans; track revenue/margin by channel; set pricing/fees consistent with HOA policies.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and coach a high-performing professional team; establish SOPs, safety, and service standards per PGA guidance.
- Coordinate seamlessly with the Golf Course Superintendent on agronomic schedules, course setup, and tournament preparations.
Technology & Systems
- Administer tee-sheet/lottery, POS, and CRM platforms and Golf Genius for tournaments, communications, and scoring.
Qualifications
Required
- PGA of America Member (Class A) in good standing, or Associates actively progressing toward membership.
- 5+ years progressively responsible leadership in private, semi-private, or resort golf operations; prior success in bundled-golf or HOA-governed settings strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise across golf-shop ops, instruction/player development, tournament administration, merchandising, budgeting, and team leadership.
- Proven ability to partner with member-led boards/committees and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
- Tech-savvy operator with tee-sheet/POS, booking-lottery, and tournament-software proficiency; data-driven decision-making.
Preferred
- Experience optimizing access/yield in high-demand bundled communities (seasonality, guest policies, reciprocity).
- Hospitality focused experience and excellence.
Leadership Traits
- Hospitality-first mindset; local expertise, personalized service, transparency, and innovation; calm, positive presence under pressure.
Success Metrics
- Member-satisfaction scores (access, pace, service, instruction).
- Utilization/yield balance for members, leagues, events, and limited public play.
- Shop revenue, margin, and inventory turns; lesson/coaching growth.
- Tournament/association participation, communication effectiveness, and on-time starts/finishes.
- Team engagement, retention, and training compliance.
- Budget adherence and continuous-improvement initiatives aligned to Board objectives.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary, performance bonus opportunity, professional dues/education support, medical and retirement benefits. Final package commensurate with experience and credentials (PGA Class A).
