Description
OverviewFircrest, WA | Fircrest Golf Club (FGC) recently celebrated 100 Years (1923 - 2023), but the Club is looking to the future. Fircrest's parkland-style routing was designed and laid out by Arthur Vernon Macan and is nearly the same today as when he designed it in 1923. Born not out of the "leftover land" that so many are built on, FGC grew out of the woods, with no homes, roads, or businesses in the area. Fircrest was, and still is, an escape from the city built on 165 acres of wooded and rolling terrain that Macan turned into his signature course. It is a golf course that has stood the test of time and provided its members, guests, and professionals with a challenging test each time they play a round of golf.
It has been said that "if you play well at Fircrest, you could play anywhere!" That was true in July 1923, when the course opened, and it is true today. Considered one of the nation's "sportiest layouts," Fircrest, like most great tests of golf, the course never plays the same way on two consecutive days and gives even the best players the opportunity to use all their skills during each round. A.V. Macan's vision for Fircrest was (and still is) based on the natural movements of the existing land, utilizing what nature provided to its fullest extent.
The Club is currently engaged in restoration planning with renowned golf course architect Andrew Green. This project marks one of Andrew's first ventures on the West Coast, and we are excited to bring his vision and expertise to Fircrest. His reputation for honoring classic design while introducing thoughtful modern enhancements ensures that our course will remain both true to its history and ready for the future.
The Clubhouse, A Member-centric Hub | Fircrest Golf Club [ Video Tour from AboveDown.com] is technically in Tacoma, WA but the neighborhood is known as Fircrest and FGC is at the center of it. The Clubhouse has 3 dining areas, a grill named The Champions Bar & Grill, a dining room named the Regents Room, a 200-person event space, and a substantial Fitness Center. Besides golf, FGC's property amenities include aquatics, fitness, dining, and programming for all ages. There is a separate Golf Shop and cart storage for both the cart fleets. The golf practice facilities consist of options to hit undercover (away from the elements), two grass tee decks, and one artificial tee deck.
