Job Description:
WORKING TITLE: Extension Program Manager (EPM)
The UF/IFAS Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is seeking a leader to provide the day- to-day management of EFNEP in Miami-Dade County. EFNEP is a federally funded program that teaches income- constrained families how to prepare healthy meals on a budget and engage in more physical activities to reduce the risk of chronic disease. Extension Program Managers (EPMs) lead a local team of paraprofessional nutrition educators (NEs) to implement the programming set out in the annual plan for their county. EPMs provide supervision and training to their team of NEs. This position works in collaboration with the local County Extension Director. EPMs attend county Extension meetings, advisory meetings, and EFNEP training events. EPMs promote EFNEP within the community, recruit teaching sites and develop partnerships, complete regular programmatic reports and monitor the annual program plan and budget.
What is EFNEP
EFNEP is a nutrition education program for families with limited resources. EFNEP collaborates with community partners across Florida to influence food and physical activity behaviors. Paraprofessional nutrition educators teach adult and youth participants how to stretch food dollars, prepare nutritious meals, and improve overall health and well-being following research-tested curricula.

As the EFNEP Extension Program Manager (EPM) you will be joining a signature Extension program impacting thousands of Floridians each year. As the state’s premier land-grant university, UF offers free educational programs through Extension to provide solutions for everyday problems facing Florida’s families. As part of Extension, you will be joining a network that has served Floridians for over 100 years. You will lead a passionate team and be an ambassador for University of Florida, IFAS Extension, and EFNEP to local stakeholders.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Provide supervision and leadership for the EFNEP team in Miami-Dade County.
- Promote the program locally and recruit teaching sites
- Provide regular training and coaching to staff
- Complete county plan(s) and monitor budgets(s)
- Submit monthly reports to capture programming data and successes
- Travel as necessary within the county and occasionally within the state of Florida for training

- Ability to provide ongoing coaching and supervision with the staff.
Additional Details
This is a time-limited, grant funded position in Miami-Dade County
Pay Range
$53,000 - $58,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience

Normal Work Schedule
40 hours, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5:00 PM. Due to the nature of this position, some early or late hours and travel will be required. In addition, some overnight travel will be required, including trips to UF’s main campus.
Participation in the Extension community events on weekends as requested by CED, and allowable by grant guidelines, may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to contribute to a positive, productive team environment using leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with EFNEP colleagues locally and throughout the state, as well as Extension colleagues and program partners. Demonstrate a courteous and helpful manner and show respect and appreciation for people of all backgrounds and experiences.
Ability to maintain working files and revisions of documents. Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and able to quickly learn basics of new software. Ability to maximize digital tools for productivity, communication, and organization. A high degree of accuracy and timeliness in all work. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, dependability, and resourcefulness. Ability to maintain complete and organized records. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong personnel management experience desired. Ability to manage staff and provide strong leadership. Able to synthesize, communicate and enforce program policies and procedures. Superior ability to coach staff to success and to deliver engaging training.
Willingness and ability to travel independently.
Degree in human nutrition or closely related field, education, nonprofit management, business, sociology or public administration preferred. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/N), and/or Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD/N) helpful but not required. Experience in public health is helpful.
