Description
Tilden Gardens Inc. [TGI] is seeking a General Manager who is a proven leader with multiple years of experience.
TGI is a self-managed, residential cooperative located in the Cleveland Park Historical District of Washington, D.C. Built in the late 1920s and surrounded by historical gardens, the four Tudor-style buildings are on a five-acre triangular parcel bounded by Connecticut Avenue, Sedgwick, and Tilden Streets in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. (http://www.tildengardens.org/index.html) TGI consists of 170 apartments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Cooperative and supervise its on-site staff.
- Manage timely communication with the Board of Directors on all Cooperative matters.
- Manage timely communication with apartment unit owners (shareholders) relevant to their individual units and the building where the unit is located.
- Manage and supervise the performance of contractors working at Tilden Gardens on Cooperative services and projects.
- Manage the share transfer process in which apartment units are sold and verify the financial eligibility of potential purchasers according to the financial requirements established by the Cooperative.
- Process and file property taxes.
- Manage the senior tax credit refund and homestead deduction for the Cooperative.
- Ensure the timely filing of data as required by the D.C. Building Energy Performance program.
- Implement all regulatory requirements, per D.C. code.
- Develop the Cooperative’s annual budget.
- Create the monthly Board meeting package, including the Manager’s report.
- Attend the monthly Board meetings and present the Manager’s report.
- Work closely with the financial management firm responsible for processing the Cooperative’s payments.
- Assist contractors in developing financial audits and reserve studies.
Qualifications
- At least five years of on-site experience of managing a mid-rise or high-rise, multifamily community.
- One or more of the following professional designations: CMCA, AMS, PCAM, CPM, and RCM.
- Strong verbal, written, managerial, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with supervising on-site team members and working in a team environment.
- Experience with developing and implementing a management and documentation system for efficient operations.
- Experience with recruiting and hiring staff.
- Knowledge of MS Office products, especially Excel but also Word and PowerPoint.
