Description
The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Manage and evaluate the HR Assistant and Recruiter roles.
Oversight of payroll:
- Primary reviewer of semi-monthly payroll and backup payroll processor if HR Assistant is out
- Set up & administer payroll withholdings / filings whenever we hire employees in a new state
- Submit 401K contributions to administrators
Main point of contact / account administrator for all online employee benefits portals.
Retrieve monthly invoices
Download Contribution Rate Change report (semi-monthly), Distribution Report (monthly), and other reports from retirement account as needed
Assist with annual 401K Plan audit
Manage Workers’ Compensation Insurance – Annual True-Up, Maintenance of Partner List with State of Ohio, Annual Audit submission for non-Ohio employees.
Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintain and update employee handbook and ensure compliance with all firm wide policies and procedures.
Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
Participate in new hire orientation and onboarding process for new hires.
Establish and maintain a company intranet for employee communications.
Oversees and assists in the Firm’s staff evaluation process.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Assistance in annual M+N Connect (interns) program
Creates learning and development programs and initiatives to provide internal development opportunities for employees.
Other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
BA in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
Minimum 5-7 years managerial experience
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired
Travel limited to 10%for visits to Ohio offices - Canton, Columbus, and Delaware.
Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
