Position Summary:
The Manager of Grants and Prospect Research is a critical member of the Development Team responsible for researching, writing, reporting and stewarding the relationships for an ever growing portfolio of foundation, corporate and government grants to advance Signature Healthcare’s mission and support fundraising events. This position is responsible for building and maintaining excellent cross departmental relationships to support strong proposals that are budget relieving or related to specific initiatives. Additionally, this position provides support to all frontline fundraisers by researching prospects to help build individual portfolios. As a member of a small team, this position will collaborate with colleagues to support all team efforts as necessary and appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants Management and Strategy
- Manage and drive the full lifecycle of grants: prospecting, writing, submission, tracking, reporting, and stewardship.
- Write and submit relevant and strategic and compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and narrative/ financial reports.
- Research new funding opportunities on a local, state, and federal level.
- Strategically train individuals or groups both internally or externally to be a stable of people that can maximize your results through their collaboration.
- Build and maintain relationships with funders and other strategic partners on an internal organizational, local, state, and federal level.
- Prioritizing a face-to-face approach with funders and prospects and creatively and strategically utilize your stable of trained collaborators to customize interacts and maximize outcomes.
- Create, maintain, and update a detailed grants calendar to ensure timely submission, reporting and accurate forecasting with accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and execute an annual grants strategy aligned with organizational priorities that are agreed upon in collaboration with the Vice President of Development (VP Development), Senior Vice Presidents (SVP), and finance.
- Create a stewardship plan annually for funders in all phases of the cycle: Qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Monitor grant KPI’s, deliverables, and compliance requirements for all grant funders.
- Track and analyze funding efforts and outcomes for reporting and strategy improvements.
- In collaboration with the VP Development drive budgeting, forecasting and tracking of progress with timeliness and accuracy.
Prospect Research and Administration
- Conduct ongoing research using all available platforms and creativity to identify new institutional and individual prospects.
- Create standard for different tiered research profiles and a process for research requests, train the team, and oversee the implementation.
- Create research profiles in a timely and accurate manner that follows the agreed upon request process.
- In collaboration with the Events team, drive and execute attendee profiles as requested.
- Maintain detailed funder reports on the shared drive and in RE platform to track research and create institutional memory.
- Enter relevant and agreed upon grant-related data into donor database.
- Utilize RE to the department standards to track prospects and outcomes.
- Maintain and accurate and up-to-date password spreadsheet for all portals.
- Maintain up to date library of grant support documents including but not limited to; resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board/Staff diversity and lists.
- Produce timely and accurate reports for the VP Development on an agreed upon regular basis and as needed.
- Prepare briefings, materials, and talking points for site visits and all funder communication.
- Work with team by providing data and stories to ensure that grant results and stories are being shared at an appropriate level in appropriate communications.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Build strong, collaborative, and transparent relationships with key internal stakeholders and leadership.
- A positive and active presence at the hospital is require.
- Through strong communication, ensure grant-funded activities are being implemented and tracked by the key internal staff driving the program being funded.
- Assist with the creation of any grant related communications needed such press releases, letters of support, social media posts, or key success stories/outcomes.
- External Engagement and Events
- Actively search for opportunities to collaborate with community partners on join grant proposal and initiatives as the make sense.
- Represent the organization at funder meetings and external events as needed.
- Provide support during fundraising events and campaigns including but not limited to writing for cases for support and post campaign reports, and event lead up and day of staffing support.
- Departmental Duties
- Share in administrative duties to support the team as assigned equally and with workloads prioritized by the VP development.
- Provide support on writing for things including but not limited to newsletters, appeals, and event press releases and program books.
- Participate in organizational activities and initiatives as required.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the President and CEO of the hospital and the Vice President for Development.

Requirements
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing or grants management
- Demonstrated analytical and persuasive high quality writing skills, superior editing skills, ability to convey complex information in a clear and compelling manner to all audiences.
- Strong administrative skills and self- motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in effective and efficient manner.
- Strong and proven relationship builder with both internal and external audiences.
- Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office and experience with a CRM strongly preferred
- Familiarity and experience working with government funders preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- Ability to work independently, but also be a strong and committed team player.
- Committed to a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be strategic and forward thinking
- Proven ability to develop and grow relationships and portfolios resulting increased and additional financial gifts
- Positive attitude and passion for playing a role in fulfilling the organization's mission.
Education/Experience/Other
- 5 years of fundraising experience and proven track record for securing grants.
- Proficient in Raiser’s Edge donor database preferred.
