Are you ready to make a significant impact in private banking? At JPMorgan Chase, we seek a dedicated and detail-oriented Underwriting QC Analyst for our Private Banking Mortgage team. Your expertise in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Mathematics, and US mortgages will help us uphold the highest standards of credit risk compliance for our High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients.Job Summary
As a Private Bank Mortgage Underwriting QC Analyst within the Private Banking Mortgage team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the mortgage origination business by performing underwriting analysis to determine credit risk on mortgage applications. You will ensure all loan decisions conform to internal credit policies, protecting the bank from financial, reputational, and regulatory risks. You will collaborate with global stakeholders and internal teams to drive the mortgage origination process from start to finish.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and enter loan information as per current underwriting guidelines into the loan system.
- Analyze income by reviewing and validating US financial documents such as Paystubs, W2s, Tax Returns, and K-1s.
- Conduct credit analysis by reviewing consumer credit reports, assessing credit scores, delinquencies, and public records.
- Perform balance sheet and financial analysis, determining liquid and non-liquid assets and liabilities.
- Review relevant underwriting conditions based on the loan application and ensure timely clearance.
- Review and analyze collateral documents to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify credit risks, collateral variances, and deviations from standard underwriting guidelines.
- Adhere to the 30-day timeline for all credit decisions from a Regulation B (ECOA) standpoint.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders and internal teams to drive the mortgage origination process.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to relevant parties.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all underwriting decisions
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of Mortgage Underwriting experience in US mortgage loan originations.
- Apply strong knowledge of Accounting, Banking & Finance, Mathematics, and tools like MS Excel and MS Teams.
- Exhibit experience in reviewing and analyzing US financial documents such as Bank/Asset statements, Balance Sheet/Personal Financial statements, Profit & Loss statements, Personal Tax Returns, Appraisal, Purchase Contract, and Credit reports.
- Understand all stages of the mortgage origination life cycle thoroughly.
- Communicate effectively with strong written and verbal skills and excellent command of English.
- Adapt to working in shifts as per business requirements.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Gain exposure to production management, work allocation, prioritization, exception handling, and process documentation.
- Apply working knowledge of major US mortgage regulations.
- Demonstrate excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Adapt flexibly to work in US, ASIA, and EMEA shifts.
- Exhibit experience in process improvement initiatives.
- Utilize advanced problem-solving skills in complex scenarios.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
