DERE BayWa r.e. AGAbout the roleAs Manager Portfolio Strategy (m/f/d), you will be responsible for shaping and updating BayWa r.e.'s view on where and how to grow our renewable energy pipeline and portfolio. Working closely with other teams at SPM, offtake experts, and project stakeholders, IPP etc. you will lead the development and regular review of our Pipeline and Portfolio Strategy. Your role requires a strong command of energy market fundamentals, data-driven thinking, and the ability to engage internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
About the team
Strategic Portfolio Management is a newly established function that plays a central role in shaping the Group's renewable energy pipeline and asset portfolio. It brings together expertise in market analytics, pipeline strategy, and offtake to optimise how capital and resources are allocated in an increasingly complex and volatile market environment. Through close collaboration across business lines, SPM ensures our project pipeline remains resilient, high-value, and aligned with long-term shareholder expectations.
What You Will Do
- Develop structured assessments of our core markets and technologies, including wind, solar PV, and battery storage, integrating external market fundamentals and internal views to guide pipeline direction.
- Manage the quarterly update cycle and the annual review process of the Portfolio Strategy, aligning it with latest market developments, business priorities and shareholder expectations.
- Design and facilitate stakeholder workshops and consultations to validate strategy updates and ensure alignment with development, finance, and executive teams.
- Further solidify the internal networks of SPM for data and knowledge sharing and establish yourself as a trusted subject matter expert for central and local BayWa r.e. teams.
- Provide strategic input to project prioritisation efforts, project sales, and investment committees with respect to pipeline depth, diversification, and value potential.
- Prepare ad-hoc market assessments and reports on a short notice and present that to the relevant stakeholders, including c-suite executives.
- Manage relationships with external intel partners and ensure cost and value optimisation.
What You Bring
- A university degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, or Energy-related field.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in portfolio strategy, pipeline planning, or energy market analysis, ideally within a renewable energy developer or utility. Internal
- Demonstrated experience in running structured, cross-functional processes and presenting strategy outcomes to senior audiences. • Strong analytical and data handling skills; proficiency in Excel required, Power BI or Python a strong plus.
- Understanding of renewable project development cycles (e.g. permitting and grid connection processes) and commercial value drivers (e.g. LCoE, route-to-market, PPA pricing, policy risk).
- Experience managing external data and intelligence providers is desired.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills with the ability to synthesise and convey complex topics clearly to a variety of audiences, including c-suite executives and board members.
