- Regional Sales Manager
Description
The Regional Sales Manager serves as the primary point of contact with current and prospective Automotive OEM and Tiered customers, acting as the face of the customer and effectively managing their needs, expectations, and price/volume negotiations. This role involves working closely with both multi-national and small- to medium-sized customers to develop strong relationships and execute account plans aimed at increasing volume and margin. Strong engagement with Customer Experience, Application Engineering, Customer Quality Engineering, and other key marketing, planning, and operating functions will be required. The level of role will be determined by the candidates experience.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute account management plans within the assigned territory/customer portfolio to drive sustained volume and margin growth.
Lead cross-functional account teams to achieve customer satisfaction, growth, profitability, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Build and sustain strong relationships with customer stakeholders beyond procurement, including both corporate and plant levels.
Manage periodic customer meetings/visits as part of the account planning and relationship responsibility.
Collaborate with technical, quality, and innovation teams to identify new opportunities and resolve technical issues.
Develop and execute Joint Business Plans with key customers.
Respond with urgency to customer needs and communicate effectively with internal teams.
Lead contract negotiations, including robust pre-planning and strategy development.
Negotiate pricing and contractual commitments, ensuring adherence throughout the contract lifecycle, including order-to-cash processes.
Provide reliable customer forecasts (short and long term) and monthly shipping demands.
Gather and analyze market trends, conditions, and competitive intelligence to support account planning and marketing.
Maintain strong industry and product knowledge aligned with market insights.
Utilize tools such as CRM and business intelligence platforms for account management and reporting.
Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Masters preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of successful technical sales or industrial B2B experience (B2C experience will also be considered).
Experience managing major national accounts, with proven ability to influence both executive and plant-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated success in meeting targets, growing accounts, and introducing new products.
Strong skills in negotiation, contract management, and closing deals.
Knowledge of the automotive industry vertical and OEM customers preferred.
Knowledge of steel manufacturing and/or metals end-use applications preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and business software platforms.
Working knowledge of steel grades is a plus.
