About the Role
The City of Toronto’s Corporate Real Estate Management division is hiring a dynamic senior leader to help shape the future of Toronto’s real estate landscape. In this high-impact role, the Senior Director of Asset Management Planning and Capital Delivery will lead the strategic oversight of the City’s extensive real estate portfolio, with a focus on asset management and capital project delivery. The successful candidate will lead long-term capital planning, financial forecasting, and asset optimization strategies that align with Toronto City Council’s priorities and climate action goals. As a Senior Director within the Corporate Real Estate Management division, this leader will champion modernization, integrate planning and delivery functions using a data-informed approach, and ensure full compliance with regulatory frameworks. This position includes responsibility for both union and non-union staff and offers the opportunity to lead high-performing teams while shaping how Toronto builds and manages its real estate assets for the future.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership, Governance, and Organizational Performance
- Provides strategic leadership within the Corporate Real Estate Management division to anticipate and address challenges, while advancing the division’s mandate and Council priorities.
- Leads governance of city-wide asset and capital project functions to reduce risk and ensure transparency and accountability.
Asset Management, Capital Planning, and Infrastructure Delivery
Leads long-term capital planning, 10-year financial forecasting, and unified frameworks for city-wide real estate investments.
Directs end-to-end capital project delivery, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements.
People Leadership, Service Innovation, and Operational Excellence
- Cultivates high-performing, multidisciplinary teams and leads talent development and succession planning.
Champions service transformation by modernizing operating models, methodologies, and digital tools.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in business, public administration, engineering, urban planning, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
10–15 years of progressive senior leadership experience in asset management and capital project delivery, ideally within large, complex organizations. - Proven expertise in strategic planning, financial forecasting, governance, and infrastructure execution.
- Skilled in leading diverse teams and modernizing service delivery.
- Committed to aligning operations with Council priorities and climate action goals.
