Events DC has retained SearchWide Global to find a resourceful, hands-on leader to serve as the new Senior Director of Facilities & Sustainability.
This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and world-class service of a facility that hosts some of the most high-profile conventions, trade shows, and special events in the country. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking facilities leader with deep expertise in engineering, sustainability, and capital planning, capable of driving operational excellence, innovation, and compliance while inspiring and developing a high-performing team.
The Senior Director provides leadership and direction for the Facilities Operations Division, overseeing engineering, building services, life safety, maintenance, and sustainability initiatives inside and outside of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations, this role ensures the delivery of seamless facility operations, compliance with environmental regulations (DOEE, EPA), and execution of sustainability and certification initiatives.
This position plays a critical role in the long-term stewardship of the Convention Center by leading capital improvements, managing the central plant and mechanical systems, and ensuring operational resilience for both short- and long-term events.
