Description
Position:
The Senior Internal Audit Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the internal audit team by leveraging data analytics tools such as Alteryx and Power BI to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of internal audits and enterprise risk management activities. This role will focus on extracting, analyzing, and visualizing data to develop continuous monitoring programs and provide meaningful and value-added insights that help improve financial, operational, and compliance internal audits, and enterprise risk management activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with audit teams to identify key areas where data analytics can enhance financial, operational and compliance audit and enterprise risk management activities.
- Lead planning, execution, and reporting of corporate and brands financial, compliance and operational audits, ensuring adherence to the Global Internal Audit Standards.
- Develop and execute data analytics procedures to help address internal audit objectives and evaluate large datasets for trends, anomalies, potential risks or opportunities.
- Use data analytics tools (Alteryx, Power BI) to extract, clean, transform, and prepare data from various systems (e.g., ERP systems, databases) for analysis.
- Build repeatable data workflows that facilitate automated testing, continuous monitoring and audit processes.
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI or other tools to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Assist in developing value added recommendations, insights, trends, and risks identified through data analytics to audit teams, management, and executives.
- Assist in risk assessments, providing data-driven insights to prioritize audit focus areas.
- Identify patterns in data that may indicate control weaknesses, fraud, or inefficiencies.
- Identify opportunities to improve the data analytics approach within internal audits and proactively implement solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest data analytics technologies, visualization techniques and best practices to continuously enhance audit methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science/Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Alteryx, Power BI or other relevant certification as approved by management required.
- 5+ years of data analytics experience preferably in Public Accounting and/or Corporate Internal Audit of a publicly held company.
- Strong experience with data analytics tools like Alteryx, Power BI, SQL Server Analysis Service (SSAS), Excel Power Query or other data visualization tools.
- Strong experience with programming for data analysis with one or more languages such as SQL and Python.
- Ability to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to draw meaningful insights.
- Strong understanding of audit principles, enterprise risk management, and the Global Internal Audit Standards.
- An ability to think critically, identify potential risks, and offer innovative solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable reports for stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RELOCATION OR SPONSORSHIP.
