- Senior Manager Research and Knowledge Management Programs and Resources

Offices: Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Phoenix, St. Louis, and Tampa
We have the opportunity for a Sr. Manager of Programs & Resources to join the firm’s Research & Knowledge Management department. This is a highly collaborative role with responsibilities including supporting the firm’s Knowledge Management and current awareness programs, as well as overseeing the firm’s portfolio of research resources. The position reports to the Director of Research & Knowledge Management and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to address the firm’s information needs and advance strategic business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborates with members of Research Services, Research Operations, Competitive Intelligence, Operations & Innovation, Marketing & Business Development, and Information Technology on a variety of projects and initiatives.
Leadership
- Participates in developing annual strategic priorities and department goals for Research & Knowledge Management
- Participates in collaborative Research & Knowledge Management leadership meetings and group Research Services and Competitive Intelligence team meetings (video conference)
- Manages two direct reports, offering guidance and oversight on projects, and conducting formal annual performance evaluations
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement as it relates to the position’s responsibilities and Research & Knowledge Management department
Knowledge Management
- Identifies and leverages Knowledge Management tools and the firm’s collective knowledge to facilitate programs and that enhance knowledge sharing, collaboration, and efficiency
- Supports enhancements and ongoing improvements to the firm’s intranet to improve content and user experience
- Monitors the effectiveness of Knowledge Management initiatives to ensure they are aligned with the needs of attorneys and business professionals
Current Awareness & Communications
- Manages firm’s news monitoring tools and oversees the creation of custom news reports and publication alerts for firm leadership, administrative departments, practice groups, and attorneys
- Manages communications program for department’s services, and resource awareness and adoption
Resource Management
1. Operations
- Leads the implementation and accessibility of external research resources, ensuring seamless user experience and prompt resolution of technical issues
- Directs the management and optimization of the firm’s resource management system, leveraging data insights to inform usage trends and resource allocation
- Oversees the firm’s Integrated Library System (ILS), ensuring accurate representation of physical and electronic collections for purposes of knowledge management, direct access, and greater electronic resource adoption
2. Resource Strategy & Vendor Relations
- Manages a significant firmwide investment in electronic resources and subscriptions portfolio
- Participates in annual research resources budgeting process and budget management throughout fiscal year
- Oversees contracts and licenses for various electronic resources
- Leads the development and maintenance of vendor relations for the department and participates in contract renewal discussions and negotiations
- Participates in the evaluation of new-to-market and updated versions of research tools with the Research Services and
- Competitive Intelligence teams to determine if subscribing is warranted and oversees group pilot programs
3. Technology, Systems, and Processes
- Utilizes various technology tools to improve resource ROI and research workflow efficiencies
- Addresses technical issues within the ticket management system for the Research & Knowledge Management workstream to ensure uninterrupted operation
- Leads authentication of resources using both IP and SAML technologies in compliance with licensing agreements
- Acts as SME on product updates, testing, and adoption
- Oversees platform migrations and rollouts of new services
- Leverages data analytics and visualizations for electronic resources to identify opportunities for training, cost savings, promoting awareness and adoption, and optimizing ROI
- Identifies electronic resources and applications that facilitate and improve cost-effective and efficient firmwide information delivery, and monitors trends and developments in relation to new technologies and methods
- Provides operational direction in the management of technical services (cataloging bibliographic and authority records, maintaining their accuracy and integrity, and ensuring access to materials in various formats)
- Champions adoption of new technologies and process improvements

Who Are You?
- Bachelor’s and MLS required
- 7+ years of experience in law firm research services or equivalent experience in academia or public sector with at least 5 years of experience overseeing electronic services
- 2 years of people management experience
- Experience with ILSs, and ticket and resource management systems
- Experience using Nexis Newsdesk, Manzama, or Bloomberg Convergence
- Effectively collaborates with others and adept at handling multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Proactive with demonstrated problem-solving abilities
- Keen interest in innovation and technology with a proven track record of improving information delivery and workflow efficiencies
