The Position
Working across the US Wealth channel, we are currently seeking to recruit a high-quality US 1940 Act Product Development Manager to join our product team in the US.
The Product Development Manager is responsible for managing development of Wellington's new and growing 1940 Act fund range.
Job Description
This role reports to the Global Head of Product Development and Strategy and will work closely with the President of our '40 Act funds, as well as with members of the firms sales, product management, servicing, legal, compliance, risk, operations and tax teams. Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage the fund development and fund design process, including contributing to new product approval and creation, being knowledgeable about the target market segment objectives and constraints, navigating applicable regulations, knowing our competition, and contributing to pricing strategy and capacity management.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the fund launch process including all major decisions related to structuring and fund terms, collaborating on the fund's positioning in fund launch materials and client communication, and ensuring that stakeholders around the firm are equipped to represent the fund to their clients, consultants and prospects.
- Set clear expectations throughout the launch and development process with all stakeholders as it relates to the time to market, operational set up, reporting requirements, and potential issues to resolve
- Play a lead role in coordination efforts around the drafting, oversight, and maintenance of regulatory documentation working closely with the Funds Legal team and other Fund Product team members
Other Responsibilities
- Act as a thought partner for various internal stakeholders regarding potential changes to existing funds. Changes may include but not limited to:

- Analysis, direction and implementation of such as investment policy changes, portfolio management changes, fee changes, guideline and dealing term changes, and regulatory driven changes
- Lead the drafting of any required disclosure amendments to the offering documentation in relation to the above and navigate these through relevant governance forums for approval and implementation.
- Aid in ensuring these amendments are reflected consistently across related supporting documentation, monitoring the integrity of fund marketing materials

- Maintain open dialogue and offer subject matter expertise with various internal stakeholders related to US Wealth, including vehicle structures, regulations, instrument eligibility, product trends, pricing, liquidity, suitability, etc.
- Present updates to the internal governance committees, maintain relevant policies and provide/present reporting to Board of Directors and regulator as required
- Lead or assist with ad hoc projects, and provide general troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Ideally 10+ years in Asset Management and the US Funds industry, with circa 5+ years' experience in developing/overseeing '40 Act fund solutions - ideally experience with interval funds, tender offer funds, BDCs and other alternative fund structures
- Positive, collegial attitude and enthusiasm
- Collaborative and flexible mindset to navigate cross-functional input where priorities and client needs change often
- Good business judgement, a willingness to take initiative', demonstrate accountability and ownership
- Grace under pressure, an ethos for hard work, being organised and responsiveness/follow-through
- High level of intellectual curiosity and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to simplify the complex
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with IT systems beneficial
- CFA or similar considered a plus
