Description
Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is seeking a Vice President for Facilities (VPF) to provide strategic direction and planning for the stewardship of 8.3 million square feet of institutional supported space across multiple campuses. Under general supervision of the Senior Vice President of Capital Strategy, Real Estate, and Development, the VPF will be responsible for building and maintaining a high quality, client focused, and service-oriented team with an engaged staff performing at their highest level in a workplace environment where they feel empowered, respected, trusted, and valued.The VPF will provide direct executive leadership for Plant Operations, Facilities Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Custodial Services, Utilities, Transportation and Parking, and Sustainability. They will be responsible for directing the vision for their teams to enhance their operational effectiveness in support of the university's strategic plan, including incorporation of technology and outsourcing where efficiency can be improved. In addition to overseeing the office of Sustainability's work with the broader University, the VPF will have primary responsibility for imbuing sustainability within the operations of the existing physical plant, including devising and implementing the facilities decarbonization plan. They will collaborate with the Capital Projects, Planning, and Finance departments in support of the overall facilities services provided to the campus community.
JHU operates under a Responsibility Center Management (RCM) financial model where facilities management is a shared function between Johns Hopkins Facilities & Real Estate (JHFRE) and the divisional facilities team. The successful facilities leader will be able to navigate a combination of direct, indirect and informal working relationships in this decentralized model to achieve the university and divisional facilities goals.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, project management, people management, communication, change management, process innovation, and budgetary skills. The VPF will be familiar with a variety of facilities management models that might apply to institutional campuses to support implementation of the model that best suits JHU's needs. Additionally, this leader will be a strong collaborator who is well versed in the intricacies of higher education organizations. Finally the VPF will be familiar with a variety of in-sourcing and out-sourcing modes and capable of evaluating the right solution for JHU's needs.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or other appropriate related discipline from an accredited institution.
15+ years of professional experience in facilities management.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
