The University of the Virgin Islands Medical Simulation Center (UVI MSC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Simulation Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our state-of-the-art facility. This full-time position plays a critical role in advancing medical education and training in the US Virgin Islands and beyond by ensuring the seamless delivery of simulation-based learning experiences.
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and providing oversight of the Medical Simulation Center. This includes supervising and coordinating the scheduling of resources, ordering supplies, and managing equipment and space. The role also involves overseeing the daily operations of a state-of-the-art bioskills laboratory, managing lab resources, coordinating training sessions, and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for medical professionals.

-Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare field, information technology, theater/film production, or business administration; Master’s preferred. -Applicants who are Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialists (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educators (CHSE) by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare are highly encouraged to apply. -A combination of education, training, and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in possession of the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position.
-Three years of managerial experience, including managing a budget. -Experience with simulation, special effects make-up, theater, and audio/visual preferred. -Minimum of two years of experience working in a simulation center. -Experience in managing bioskills labs or similar healthcare/educational facilities.
-Knowledge and understanding of computer software applications related to simulation manikins.
-Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical techniques, and medical instrumentation is desirable.
-Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. -Knowledge of medical terminology. -Excellent customer service skills. -Ability to operate simulation equipment safely and maintain confidentiality. -Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. -Flexibility and adaptability to acquire and apply new skills.
