Description
Summary A Business Development (BD) Executive is sought to drive growth in the IC/SOCOM sector by delivering impactful solutions to Air Force and Space Force clients. This role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and directly assisting in the capture of new business opportunities, fostering strategic relationships, and advancing revenue and mission objectives.
The ideal candidate is a growth-minded, entrepreneurial leader with a strong track record of success and existing knowledge of current and future mission requirements for the IC/SOCOM, along with established relationships with key decision-makers. This position is remote but ideally based in DC/NOVA or near major IC/SOCOM hubs.
Responsibilities
Shape and grow new work by winning single-award Task Orders, contracts, and/or OTAs as a prime in the IC/SOCOM market Capture “on-contract-growth” (OCG) wins by leveraging existing contracts with available ceiling/scope, coordinating with program managers as needed Identify and qualify high PWIN opportunities through proactive shaping and customer engagements; assist in capture by building and executing customer call plans and solutioning sessions Develop opportunities with key IC/SOCOM hubs and other strategic installations; engage with innovation hubs and programs such as SOFWERX to identify partnership opportunities Build and sustain trusted relationships with IC/SOCOM decision-makers, program offices, and industry partners Build, analyze, and maintain a multi-year IC/SOCOM CRM pipeline; provide regular updates and gate reviews tracking customer interactions, opportunity stages, and pipeline progress Ensure CRM updates maintain pipeline volume, velocity, and accuracy within established growth standards Provide detailed pipeline reporting, including opportunity health and customer engagement updates (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) Deliver compelling capability briefings, facilitate teaming discussions, and represent the organization at key industry events and conferences Collaborate with capture managers, program managers, and other internal resources to craft winning capture plans, strategies, and proposal submissions Assist in proposal reviews, ensuring alignment with customer needs and compliance requirements Demonstrate adaptability, collaboration, and a customer-first approach in all efforts
Requirements
Required Qualifications
5–7+ years of IC/SOCOM business development experience with proven success in winning contracts, OTAs, single-award Task Orders, and/or OCG in competitive environments Ability to leverage trust-based relationships and intimate knowledge of the customer base to engage with key stakeholders and decision-makers Proven ability to shape, qualify, assist in capture, and win competitive single-award TOs, contracts, and/or OTAs Deep understanding of IC/SOCOM missions, acquisition strategies, and decision-making processes Expert-level knowledge and experience in pre-solicitation shaping and solutioning that result in high pWIN opportunities, with cited examples of awarded work Active TS/SCI security clearance Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) Familiarity with current and emerging Air and Space priorities in advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and quantum computing Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders Proficiency in CRM tools and pipeline management Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, innovation, and delivering results Desired Qualifications
Relationships and experience working within IC/SOCOM organizations Proven experience in developing and executing successful business development strategies Familiarity with on-contract growth (OCG) strategies and program expansion Broader experience with other DoD markets is a plus
