Description

We are seeking a skilled eLearning project manager for a 12-18 month remote engagement.

About the Project
The Appraisal Institute (AI), working with technology partners, will be designing and implementing PAREA (Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal).

AI is a global professional association of real estate appraisers, with more than 18,000 professionals in nearly 50 countries throughout the world. More information can be found at www.appraisalinstitute.org.

PAREA is a pathway for aspiring appraisers to gain their required experience hours to become a certified appraiser. Historically, the only option for an appraiser to complete their 1,500 experience hours was through a supervisor/trainee model that requires the aspiring appraiser to find their own supervisor. PAREA will require the instructional design and technical development of a technology-based, mentor-assisted, alternative to this traditional pathway. PAREA also seeks to increase diversity in real estate appraiser by giving participant priority to veterans, minorities, and those in designated rural areas.

The duration of the remote project will be 12-18 months.

General Scope of Work
This project will span all phases including: Discovery (Requirements), Design, Development, Quality Assurance (QA), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Implementation.

The Project Manager will work proactively and collaboratively with the AI Project Leads, AI instructional designers and other AI staff, technology partners, subject matter experts (SMEs), and mentors, to optimize the success of PAREA. The Project Manager will assist AI in developing implementation goals which align with the overall PAREA project goals, create and manage a detailed internal AI project implementation schedule, manage internal and external needs to ensure the project remains on schedule, coordinate communications between AI, technology partners, SMEs and mentors, and conduct meetings with these internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager will be expected to proactively guide the implementation effort, including coordinating AI’s internal project management with technology partners.

The Project Manager will be responsible for identifying needs and risks in the project, managing AI’s User Acceptance Testing, ensuring partners are performing as required, managing AI’s creation of Standard Operating Procedures and documentation, and other duties related to the overall success of the project. A more detailed scope of work will be determined in concert with any selected contractor.

Requirements

AI is seeking concise information from project managers who may wish to engage with AI as an independent contractor for managing the PAREA effort remotely. It is expected that the Project Manager will spend significant time working on the project. A Project Manager should allow for 30-40 hours per week for this project.

The Project Manager should be self-motivated, detail- and deadline-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, be a skilled communicator, and be able to manage competing priorities.

The project manager will be expected to perform the following:
• Serve as the primary project management liaison between the Appraisal Institute subject matter experts, freelance specialists, and selected technology vendor(s)
• Coordinate, schedule, and attend meetings with project team members across multiple time-zones and several continents
• Develop and distribute meetings agendas
• Maintain detailed meeting minutes and notes with the purpose of documenting business rules, requirements, proposed solutions, decisions made and action items
• Review technical specifications provided by the vendor, meet with business stakeholders to validate requirements, and provide feedback to vendor
• Manage delivery of requirements, QA and UAT and provide feedback to vendor
• Manage project timelines (both internal as well as those provided by the technical vendor), provide feedback on proposed sprints and sequencing of activities
• Effectively communicate and continually manage expectations of team members and business stakeholders in a clear and timely fashion via regularly scheduled internal meetings
• Produce a weekly status report which includes overall completion status, budget, blockers, and areas of risk related to scope, timeline and budget
• Proactively manage changes or movement in scope, identify risks, and devise contingency plans
• Document Standard Operating Procedures for internal AI development of additional PAREA instructional scenarios post-implementation
