Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of NSS Business Development, the Director, NSS Capture Services is responsible for leading, planning, scheduling, and overseeing the development and delivery of winning solutions for defense and intelligence community business opportunities. This leader is responsible for ensuring development of “best value” Win Strategies that are customer-centric, differentiated, and built on a strong business case. This position is responsible for KBR Middle Game activities, either as the Capture Leader and/or guiding others that support selling efforts consistent with the Company's strategic plan and business goals. The Director, NSS Capture Services collaborates throughout KBR to leverage capabilities and winning solutions for growth. This individual is responsible for hiring and supervising direct reports as well as supporting others assigned the role as a capture manager. The ideal candidate is a thought leader, able to see the big picture without overlooking the details, fosters a positive and responsive team environment, and can quickly adjust to dynamic acquisition schedules and requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The job duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Leads NSS high-priority opportunities’ capture activities including opportunity identification, gate review preparation, client interaction, teammate negotiation, key personnel identification, and recruitment, and win theme development.
- During Middlegame, facilitate or guide assigned capture managers to:
- Schedule, plan, and meet with clients to further relationship and shape the procurement. Specifically plan and document customer interactions and place in Salesforce
- Identify procurement and RFP shaping strategies and develop compelling written White Paper material for submission to customer
- Regularly update and maintain Salesforce opportunity tracking information
- Identify and initiate collaboration with Proposal Manager
- Identify and initiate collaboration with Operations
- Develop draft Middle Game Action Plan (MAP)
- Initiate exploratory client engagement activity
- Assess and identify past performance citation availability including size, scope, complexity, and recency
- Assess and develop initial solution ideas to management, technical and cost challenges
- Understand potential acquisition strategies
- Update initial business case
- Prepare Milestone 2 briefing to assess viability and secure pre-B&P investment
- Escalate and resolve complex middlegame issues
- Identify and recruit all required Key Personnel
- Mobilize the pricing team and incorporate into all solutioning exercises
- Develop and implement effective and appropriate teaming strategy
- Determine ideal team structure and negotiate teaming agreements favorable to KBR including cost implications
- Include and collaborate with Proposal Manager and Coordinator
- Develop a coherent, fully integrated Win Plan with Value Propositions
- Coordinate/lead Blue Team review to validate and sharpen Win Strategy
- Develop the written “Why KBR?” story in the Middle Game Executive Summary
- Provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to the internal cross functional teams
- Personnel Management
- Assign, mentor, and guide assigned employees
- Provide input on performance reviews, compensation-related actions, and staffing and hiring decisions
- Primary interface for screening and interviewing potential hires
- Resolve complex personnel issues in coordination with HR
Basic Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Typically requires an undergraduate degree and 15+ years of experience
- Minimum 5 years proven successful experience leading teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- High proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint
Preferred Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to adapt to various people and working styles under tight deadlines
- Ability to work beyond regular schedule hours
- Strong written communication skills
- Previous experience as a program manager is highly desired.
- Possess excellent leadership, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills
- Editing skills; excellent knowledge of grammar and punctuation
- Experience interviewing subject matter experts to support the proposal writing process
Scheduled Weekly Hours:
40 hours per week
Basic Compensation:
$185,000 – $278,000
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
