About The Position
Responsible for leading complex projects and providing advanced expertise to analyze, design, comply, finance and deliver total rewards, including health benefits, 401(k), pension, time off policies, and compensation plans.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop project plans and lead the execution of complex projects such as new vendor implementations, rewards plan changes, education and communication strategies, mergers/acquisitions, and labor agreement changes.
  • Lead and research complex accounting, budgeting and financial design for rewards programs
  • Communicate complex concepts and information to managers and staff, as well as keep leaders and teams informed of project status.
  • Lead and/or serve as a subject matter expert on teams that impact Ameren's rewards
  • Create and support on-line reference materials through an intranet or SharePoint site
  • Provide insights and analysis regarding rewards programs to leadership and to staff.
  • Lead and/or participate on teams in an RFP, RFI, or other vendor-partner analysis, including leading the team to a timely and successful contract or scope of work.
  • Participate and lead in monitoring trends and partnering to recommend rewards design changes to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Partner closely with the Rewards personnel, as well as Controllers, Tax, Legal, IT, and Payroll, among others, to provide expertise on all aspects of rewards planning, rate case support and program implementation.
  • Investigate various issues, potential legislation and recommend appropriate actions.


  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Degree majoring in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Human Resources or related discipline preferred.
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in employee benefit design and delivery required, along with demonstrated complex project management required.
  • CPA or minor in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Experience with rewards education or change strategies preferred.


  • In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory requirements, including knowledge of self-funded arrangements and benefit trusts.
  • Ability to think strategically; creative problem solver who constantly reviews industry trends and products.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective leadership skills/qualities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and HCM systems.
  • Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.


  • Additional Information:

    The Total Rewards Project Manager works a hybrid schedule flexing time between home and office environment.

    Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.
