Equity Research Analyst - Semiconductors & Hardware

Our client is a leading $15bn+ multi-strategy hedge fund seeking to hire a Semis & Hardware Equity Research Analyst to join an established Portfolio Manager's team in New York City.

This is an expansion hire, reflecting continued growth and capital allocation within a highly successful technology investment strategy. The Portfolio Manager has developed a strong track record investing across the technology landscape and is looking to add a dedicated sector specialist to further build out coverage across the semiconductor and hardware ecosystem.

The strategy has a global investment mandate with a primary emphasis on US equities, and a particular focus on identifying differentiated long and short opportunities across semiconductors, semiconductor equipment, AI infrastructure, components, systems, networking, and broader hardware-related verticals.

The Opportunity

You will work directly with an experienced Portfolio Manager as a key member of a lean, high-impact investment team. The role offers significant exposure to the investment decision-making process and the opportunity to develop deep sector ownership across one of the most attractive and rapidly evolving areas of global equity markets.

Responsibilities will include:

• Conducting fundamental bottom-up research across the semiconductor and hardware sectors
• Building and maintaining detailed financial and valuation models
• Developing differentiated long and short investment ideas
• Performing industry analysis, channel checks, expert calls, and supply-chain research
• Meeting with company management teams, industry participants, and sell-side analysts
• Monitoring earnings, industry trends, competitive dynamics, and key catalysts
• Presenting investment recommendations directly to the Portfolio Manager
• Expanding and refining the team's global coverage universe

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 3+ years of equity research experience covering semiconductors, semiconductor equipment, hardware, networking, storage, or adjacent technology sectors
• Strong fundamental analytical and financial modelling capabilities
• Demonstrated passion for investing and public markets
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate investment views with conviction
• A deep understanding of technology industry drivers and competitive dynamics
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-oriented investment environment

Our client is particularly interested in candidates with buyside experience, though outstanding sell-side analysts and associates covering the sector will also be given serious consideration.
